ARCO LAMP WITH MARBLE BASE
Functional elegance sums up this fantastic floor lamp designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos in 1962. The Arco lamp is a superbly executed work of art which duals as a stylish modern floor lamp.
The Arco lamp is a floor lamp which provides direct light and satisfies the request of direct illumination without the need to fix it to the ceiling. Most rooms have the electrical output for a ceiling lamp right in the middle of the ceiling, but most dining tables are not placed in the middle of a room. Achille Castiglioni was unhappy because of the cable going from the output to the position where the pendant lamp is fixed to illuminate the table. For this reason he designed the Arco lamp, together with Pier Giacomo Castiglioni.
The Arco Lamp is a timeless work of art. Easily one of the most subtly ubiquitous lamps ever crafted. The Arco lamp features a solid marble base and an 8ft arc of stainless steel. The lamp arc is adjustable, and the marble base is crafted using a solid piece of marble which weighs more than 140lbs. The polished stainless steel shade extends eight feet beyond the base, leaving room for a dining table or sofa to sit directly beneath the light source. It's perfect for rooms that do not have existing ceiling lighting fixtures.
